Normally I’d just post this video with some chill music but I can’t resist the urge to share what it’s REALLY like at camp here 🤣 The mornings and nights are filled with an orchestra of birds all tuning their voices at subtle intervals of daylight. It starts with the blue-winged kookaburras at first light and then the chaos of galahs and other birds take over as the sun claims its place on the horizon. It’s not easy to find Amethyst here at the O’Brien’s Creek gem fields, so today’s little pocket was such a surprise! The ever elusive O’Brien’s Creek Aquamarine! Every year I come out here I whisper a little prayer to the Aquamarine gods that maybe (just MAYBE!) I’ll be lucky enough to find another pocket of these incredibly rare crystals. Years come and go without a find but this last week I was blessed with a small pocket of beautiful Aquamarine crystals, only meters away from a spot I prospected last season. Today I ventured into some unexplored ground (17km round trip hike), everything is so overgrown here after the summer rains but I did manage to find one nice pocket of smoky Quartz crystals.
